This song was pivotal in my musical upbringing. At the time, there wasn't anyone else I knew doing anything like this (or at this level). Glenn Cornick was one of my earliest bassist inflences - I was spoiled early on! Love it. Thanks much for sharing.
I saw Tull about a half dozen times in the 70's and 80's and they never dissappointed. The Stormwatch Tour where UK opened for them was particularily good.
@notfragile33 thats not really accurate. while it is hard to compartmentalise tull into one of th conventional slots, songs like 'new yesterday', 'my sunday feeling', 'jeffrey goes to..','we used to know', have an almost sabbath like sound. i say that in its loosest sense, but it was distinctly metal. i wouldn't hold it against tull that they aren't distinctly metal, i find the ensemble of the flute, acoustic and electric - gypsy-folksy-brit rock.
VISION EAGLE put on the market in Germany this DVD on which Ian Anderson in really interesting way returned his impressions of the concert at that time from today's view, as a Collector's edition with attached CD of their gig presented arms, the Jethro Tull in absolute top condition. Purchase is absolutely worthwhile - best Tull greetings from Germany!

The reason some people hear early Sabbath here is simply because Clive Bunker and Bill Ward are cut from the same cloth.
Jazz rock drummers extraordinaire. Listen to War Pigs Paris 1970 and hear the similarities.

I think this particular performance of this song is as close as to "metal" as this band ever got
