Spectacular 1913 Train Collision

Spectacular head-on collision between 2 giant locomotives traveling at 90 miles an hour. This was one of the events at the 1913 California State Fair, and is from an old silent newsreel.

each train could be going 40 mph a piece...which would = 90 mph total.. nobody can tell. but i agree, definatly not 90mph per train

He had to start the train off first and let it build up speed, in those days you would of had to have loads of film rolls to film the whole speed build up and then the crash.

trains are not at 90 mph, as we can see a guy easily hops off the train and runs along it. must be around 20 miles per hour
