I think that there are too many entertainers and not enough intellectuals. I personally know of many blacks who are in science and technology, but they are like flies in butter. I think structurally there are disadvantages, such as urban school with bad teachers or the ability to pay for school. I however dont think it's a lack of motivation, because the harlem renaissance was full of intellectuals and leaders. I would like to see the same progress in my life time. Peace!

@MDplaful hmmm it mos def is about motivation because if the schooling im getting doesnt show me a way to survive or motivate me to forward my education then i wont. People are motivated in multiple ways under the lens of either intrinsic or extrinsic that doesnt exlude school....hmmm check out dead prez's they schools song for more example....but its not you or anyone elses place to say what black people should or should not do with their abilities and talent

@acousticboi You are obviously an exception and I know you might be able to name others but on a larger scale I dont think that's the reality. Why isn't it my place to criticizes current black america when I want to see way more progress. I want us to build communities that are self relient as our counterparts. It really frustrates me when I walk through jewish neighborhoods and I know blacks are capable of the same type of success. I would love to see wealth that flow through black communities.

We were kings and queens understanding the power of melanin, the deepest powers of our beings. But many don't even know what melanin is nor what it is beyond skin, and eyes, dna etc etc... One last thing to think about bro, there is a solid reason why we don't have the health or motivation to reach those fields... Mental Slavery and more anomalies play into that. We keep ourselves down, more than the white man people make excuses using. We can become speech pathologist, psychologist(which I am working on) thus even more... We actually Limit ourselves we are beyond entertainers, we can get innovative in so much more. We created mathematically accurate pyramids back then.

Nas was stating that these days it's time to see beyond the entertainment field and as a rapper himself he see's why they doing it. Not for the progressive reasons you stated. But it would be good if they all did. I would love to see Kobe Open up something out here in L.A not just Magic doing all the work. But he has his own issuse and that is another topic. I agree with you and as @keshawn888 says to each his own. We all have our paths you right it's their choice. Just once you research and see not so many of our peers are progressive these days. Take a look at Facebook, Twitter, we don't have those in print they are in the bathroom and their rooms, the rappers, rapping about the same thing material sex, and degrading messages.

Thus what you stated what was brought out for the bridge to be made for our peers to come from many of them do not take a look at the roots from where it comes from, in fact many overlook it, and even disses the elders and those that did it before... We all can check around for example for those in all fields... Then Clubbing rather to get stress free and what not, that is also being pressed as the BEST, if not ONLY way to meet and communicate with people.
