How the South Down modern trug is made. The Cuckmere Trug Company also make the famous Royal Sussex Traditional Trug from sweet chestnut and cricket bat willow, as well as many other types of trug. http://woodlands.co.uk

  • Glad you like our films but sorry you were disappointed with this one. Robin did describe the traditional trugs, but we didn't have pictures to support it. The film was long so we decided to concentrate on the construction process which was more visual. They only demonstrated making othe modern trugs that day . To balance things we put a description of the traditional trugs made of chestnut and willow in the notes.

  • Trugs are still made using Chestnut for the frames and handles. The boards are made from willow

    The use of plywood seems rather a shame when the natural materials are available

    I'm a bit surprised at Woodlands TV for making this video as most of their videos show real traditional crafts using natural materials not ply
