Why do cyclists and pedestrians think they won the lottery when they get hit?? Sorry, but if you are riding your bike on pedestrian crossings you are controvening the laws and as a consequence are responsible for your own losses. And also, your quality of life will never be the same again if its a back injury. How many obese people do you see in wheel chairs? Dont you realize these people used to be fit and athletic and now have reduced life spans. You didnt win...you LOST!

No, he wouldnt. If he was riding on the cross walk (which sure looks like it), and he collides with a car, he has to eat his own losses or rely on private life insurance. I KNOW this first hand when I struck down a pedestrian who was walking 10 ft away from the cross walk. She tried to sue me in court but the police gave testemony at trial that showed she contributed to her injuries. After legal costs she had to eat, she ended in a net LOSS. She got minimal compensation from her husbands DL.
