The Surva Festival of Masquerade Games is held annually in the town of Pernik, Bulgaria. It shows the tradition of the so-called "kukers" - people wearing masks and bells who visited all houses in the Bulgarian village, sang songs, danced and made noise in order to scare the winter and bad things away. The tradition is retained in many villages which show their traditional ceremonies and kuker masks during the festival.
