But actually, as I've mentioned in a previous comment, this took my (old) computer nearly 5 hours to complete. This light setup is fairly cheap for a biased renderer (Vray), without caustics, and a fairly low-poly liquid mesh. I could do a new version of this, just for the hell of it, but I can't actually be bothered. It's a pretty boring scene, no?
I'd love to see a bit longer video of this. For real fluids, when the water settles in a glass container, the water slightly bends upward on the edges. that's the meniscus. Was curious if you could re-do this and show this? just a little project for you on your spare time should you choose to do it.
@MrDreuger That sounds like a good idea. The project is long gone, but it's no hassle setting it up anew.
In case I decide to do it, I will increase the liquid resolution, and lower the viscosity, and thus give a more realistic appearance. I will also use a more realistic water shader, not this metallic "mercury" look.
August 8th, 2004 - Jeggis89 finishes his work on his simulation
August 8th, 2007 - It finally finishes rendering.
