I've really adjusted all of the blocking and striking techniques so that I never pull my other hand back to my hips. That is way too slow and I will stick with that.
There are many blocks, but the basic structure is based upon these:
1. High Rise Block
2. Middle inside block ( which protects your mid section keeping your knuckles about chin level)
3. Middle Outside Block
4. Downward Block.
Practice doing them while pulling the other hand back to the chest because that's quicker & hit back fast
I've studied a lot of styles, and it depends on the person.
I like Kenpo a whole lot because it's more practical for real self defense.
I like the stance structures better too. For example, in most styles, the front stance is utilized, but in Kenpo, our front stance was changed to a neutral bow which is where you keep your feet at a 45 degree angle and they are a little over shoulder length apart. I use the toe heel method to adjust my stance. I do love the side stance too
@guitarttimman I'm the best ever. I'm the most brutal and vicious, the most ruthless champion there has ever been. No one can stop me. Lennox is a conqueror? No! I'm Alexander! He's no Alexander! I'm the best ever. There's never been anyone as ruthless as me. I'm Sonny Liston. I'm Jack Dempsey. There's no one like me. I'm from their cloth. There is no one who can match me. My style is impetuous, my defense is impregnable, and I'm just ferocious. I want his heart! I want to eat his children
@guitarttimman Couldn't agree more. No matter how many martial arts you know, pick 4, maybe 5 moves that really work for you, and perfect them. You don't need any more than that.
she knows that she only needs two or three guys for four boards, not five, right
