On October 22, 2011 a "Paint the Mall Pink" flash mob was held at Windward Mall, in recognition of "Breast Cancer Awareness Month". Schools, community organizations, dance crews/studios and fitness programs from across O'ahu were invited to be a part of this memorable event, wearing pink to support the cause. Propz to Gayla and Windward Mall for putting this event together!
Choreography for the flash mob was done to "Three Little Birds" a classic hit by Bob Marley, redone by his son Ziggy Marley. The dance moves to the number was choreographed by Hawai'i's own, Mara Bacon Chang, one of the "foremothers" of hip hop and street dance in the 808 and now the creator of a new dance fitness craze called Street Jamz Werkout.
People who wanted to be a part of the event learned the choreography in person and/or from a secret link that was shared online via email. The "Three Birds" choreography is one of many easy-to-learn for all ages numbers Mara teaches in her Street Jamz Werkout class, so if you're interested, be sure to check her out at her various class locations.
