One of the very best songs of the last decade, showing perfectly how Kathleen Baird, Georgia Vallas and the Peterson sisters moulded non-traditional instruments into a rock sound to create music that is both intense and complex.
The stringed instruments on "Wide Awake" create so much tension it needs a half-song-long coda to resolve itself. The ecstatic ending and the whisperish "la, da"s contrast perfectly.
