In the 70s, an ambitious road-building project called 'Ringways' was cancelled and London narrowly escaped a fate much worse than traffic jams.

  • nice, do more

  • I just want to commend you on both of the Unfinished London videos. Excellent stuff and wonderfully fascinating for anglophiles like me. Your pacing is spot on the humor balances perfectly with the straight-up information. If you manage to get your own show, it'd be well deserved. In the meantime, please keep these coming!

  • This is a phenomenal and interesting video. However, I do take issue with your comparison of London to Los Angeles: 1) Mountain ranges cause bottlenecks and make ringways nonviable, 2) Los Angeles has other regional centers, like Long Beach, complicating the system, 3) Low population density, which makes it hard to move around without highways everywhere, 4) Lack of a subway system.

Nevertheless, I absolutely think there should be more videos like this and I do hope you make a third episode.

  • the city should instead become more bike-friendly and accesible by public transport

it would be better for the general health, too

  • just FYI: Cologne is completely organized in ringroads.

  • My reaction to Colin Lynne saying that Ringway 1 would have cost 18 Billion pounds in todays money I went WOOWWWW and OUCH that actually painful...

  • Ooh, idea! Would it be possible to build at least some of the ringways underground, like they've done in Boston?

  • pissed me pants nearly twice, please do more!

  • Love it! Can't wait for part 3!
