BuildingsofDetroit.com's cameras were rolling Friday, Aug. 22, 2008, as the last of Tiger Stadium's outfield light towers returned to Earth for the first time since being erected in 1948. But the old ballpark wasn't going to let go of its lights without a fight: It took 14 minutes for the tower to hit the ground after the excavator snipped away the first of its moorings, forcing the demolition worker to slowly creep in to wrestle with the twisted metal. Only three of the stadium's eight light towers remain.
This is the second of two parts of the video. The video is a tad slow, but we decided not to edit it and show you what it was like if you were there when it fell.
Demolition of one of the most storied arenas in the history of American sports is coming down. Detroit still has a chance to save a corner of The Corner! Donate whatever you can at www.savetigerstadium.org. Every little bit helps! Remember, once it's gone, it's gone forever!

What a shame tearing down such a landmark. I saw soo many games there when I was a kid in the 80's and then in the 90's.

It's so sad that they can ruin a landmark where there once stood a legend named Babe Ruth!
So sad!
