I would just sub them right away. These broads can get real mean and you dont want to
make them angry. You wouldn't like them when they're angry! :P

I WISH I COULD REVERSE THE CHARGES

Approximately every three months,
around two in the morning,
after one bottle of burgundy,
she'd phone to talk about
the good old days
when we were a couple
--with a revisionist history
rosier than her wine.

Then I made the mistake of asking,

"Why do you only call when youre drinking?"

That changed the tone of the conversation.

She laid into me,
recounting all my endless faults
--most of which I didn't catch
because I put down the cell
and went out for a cigarette.

Upon returning I found her
almost out of breath
as she said,

'One last thing
--this time were through for good'!

She slammed down the receiver
like a Judge's gavel.

In the silence that followed
I realized I'd always thought of her
as the one that got away
and that I still felt the same way

only now

I'd stop taking it for granted.
