The design is something I have seen before from other people and they experienced the same problem, the skis would separate. Not even athletic adults had inductor muscle strength to keep the floats together. All of them eventually ended up in the drink as did your daughter. Try attaching three lanyards to the Xcountry skis at the tips and in the middle which are slightly wider than the shoulder width of the walker. The only thing the walker has to concentrate on is balance and forward motion.
