Dems shy away from money fight

BACKBONE CAMPAIGN - CONVERSATIONS

by Bill Moyer

I'm tired of this B.S. and I'm sure you are too. I'm sick of hearing Democrats make excuses about Senate seats, vetoes, and the President. The terrible thought that politicians and strategists would consider elongating this occupation for some imagined election related benefit gives me dark circles under my eyes and gray hair.

I'm exhausted by delusional declarations of how irresponsible it would be to leave Iraq. I'm sick and tired of Pelosi and others talking about their opposition to the war, but never ever failing to write the blank check.
(See Leopold article link in right column.)

I'm tired of action alerts, dead-end bills, and NPR talk shows. I'm tired of stating the obvious about occupation recruiting enemies rather than friends. I'm tired of hearing myself likening another $100 billion tax payer dollars to lipstick on a pig, or the US occupation to a bull in a China Shop. I'm tired of pointing out how ridiculous Colin Powell's "You broke it, you own it" justification is for a perpetual occupation by an American presence that can't seem to fix a damn thing.

Just trying to fathom a $3 Trillion price tag for an illegal, unnecessary war that should have never been allowed to happen, and imagining what that money could have bought and how my grandchildren will have to pay the bill practically sends me into a coma.

I'm tried and you are tired too. Yet, with over 4000 American lives squandered, countless Iraqis and Americans maimed, untold numbers psychologically damaged, as many as 1 million Iraqis killed, 4 million Iraqi refugees, and a generation of children who will never forgive America for the childhood we robbed from them - our fatigue is real, but irrelevant.

Today, April 10 is a National Call-In Day and despite all the above, I'm going to call my so-called Representatives AGAIN, and tell them to stop their excuses and "pull the plug" on from this occupation without end. Please, take a nap, enjoy your kids, go for a walk on the beach, meditate - do whatever it takes. Then Join me in delivering this message:

1. Just Say No to Bush's request for $102 billion more for Iraq
2. Co-sponsor Lynn Woolsey's HR 5507 and safely bring all the troops home.
Call the Capitol switchboard at 202-224-3121 or find your Representative's phone on the right side:

  • why don't we invite the terrorists to invade us here have them come to our doorsteps then it would be really different. everybody takes freedom for granted.

  • why don't we station you in Baghdad for the next 10 years? - fight the "terrorists"?

  • Pinche guerra estupida sin sentido, que vaya y chingue a toda su reputa madre ese bush, que solo quiere el petroleo de irak, aqui con los mexicanos se la pela el culero bueno pa nada que no mas se la lleva de vacaciones.

  • Why is a good question. I believe money is the reason; corruption, the love of money, lifetime politicians who get into office and care only about getting more power. It is a sickness in this country and it has nothing to do with protecting the future of the US. The better question is how do we effectively root out this globalist, corporate takeover of our governments. The 3 balance and checks, the 3 branches of our government are effectively all corrupt.

  • I understand in American democratic system, congress has a major role in govt decision making.

And I agree, with you majority of Americans and the people world over had widely protested against NWO/WTO and STOP-WAR. What we don't understand is, How convenient it is for handful of wrong doers to sign death orders for 5000 American forces, and push each Home & American in to a total debt of $9.5 Trillion? Why State, establishment, bureaucracy, police ,forces & courts are ineffective in US? ? ?

  • Fixhist what the hell are you talking about? Bush is still liked in the US? Are you kidding me? The only reason he is still in office is because our Congress is corrupt and paid for. If average Americans had their say he would hang from the same post as Saddam.

  • Despite what ever Sadam could have done with his bad intentions and desire to harm UK,Israel & America.

He wouldn't have been able to kill 4000 young US solders & economic damage to the tune of us$9.5 Trillion. Fun is still on and Fauxy news is thriving and Bush is still liked in USA. Tell me if Sadam is a loser & Bush and cabals are winners (J) Let Bush, Cheney & Cabals sit in Iraqi Green zone, till they are able to bring peace in Iraq and see the last solder leave Iraq.

  • Ralph, I'll send the link to you. It's too long to post.

  • The Building Blocks of War

The Petraeus report could be the tipping point. But can we really trust it?

"There is another interesting aspect to the "Iranian" involvement in Iraq that has not been adequately explored by the mainstream media. It is worth taking note of the fact that many Sunni Iraqis commonly refer to Shia Iraqis as Iranians. It is a religious, racial thing. They do not consider the Shia Iraqis to be real Arabs, so they refer to them as Iranians, who are Persian."

  • Ralph, I'll dig the article up regarding the "Awakening Council."

They're currently still on strike for not being paid the $10/day to which they were promised. It's a good article in that it explains that the Shia Iraqis are considered Persian, therefore, they are referred to as Iranians. This makes it easy and deceptive in that the military can point to them and claim-"there are Iranians in Iraq."

I'll post the link when I get time.
