why are you guys wearing helmets

Making people wear helmets is a stupid idea. If it is so good how come its safer to ride a bicycle in The Netherlands then in Australia and New Zealand where helmets are compulsory. Helmet laws put people off cycling. The real way to make cycling safer, is to separate cyclists from cars and to make car drivers more responsible, because they are in a machine that can kill.

If you make helmets compulsory or even push people into wearing them, less people cycle.

Well im 30 years old been riding a bike for almost all my life and im from Holland. I did have a fall last year wasnt annyone fault my reartire exploided so my rearwheel locked up as i was going around 30km. Result was 2 bruised ribs and well that was it. I dont see a reason in wearing a helmet. And if u say its to protect you from cars or trucks that plastic thing aint going to safe you.

Why would other people have to wear helmets while it was you who hit the pavement???? I see no need to wear a helmet when commuting on my regular bike. I sit upright, I don't ride like crazy and I use my eyes and ears to warn me. I only wear a helmet when on my racing bike (18mph+).
