I'm pretty sure this is the biggest possible leap in the game.

Here's how it's done. You can make the biggest possible leap as early as you get Grandpa the whale, which is exactly what I do (this is a different playthrough with the original translation). A requirement to make this possible is to have Bow at lv. 1 until this point in the game. He must be killed off in the beginning of the game, killed off while raiding Trout's house together with Ryu, not alone by himself (he somehow gained 3 exp here, I'm not sure why) and the difference between Ryu's level must be 36+.

The party giving us the most experience is the party of three K. Sludges on the monster island, situated north from the main continent.

One of these lethal enemies with 1K HP, 500 speed, armed with Death spells and all-around killer stats gives 7000 experience when defeated. A party of three gives 21000.

BoF2's battle system encourages using lower-levelled party members by offering experience boosts to them when the battle is over. For example, if the hero is 5 levels stronger than Rand, Rand will gain 8% extra experience. The maximum bonus is 56%, given when the difference is 35 levels or more.

My party is weak at this point, with no good equipment, skills and fusions, so it takes me a bit to actually win the battle.

Bow receives 29367 experiences and gains 19 levels. You can see how his stats change and how many spells he learns at once.

According to my calculations, he ought to have received around 3K more experience, but where that 3K went I have no clue. Either way, that extra 3K would be insufficient for another level.

  • You can do even better tbh. Party of just Ryu and a level 1 Character. Each will get half the exp rather than a quarter of it.

  • @joeygoku1

The experience is not divided between the party members in this game (the amount shown after the battle ends shows the sum for the whole party, but each survivor gets a fixed amount no matter how many survivors there were in the first place).

  • @MoogleBoss oooh right xD I haven't played this game in a while =o I forgot that each party members gets X ammount of exp and the number shown is the combined exp each person got =o ^^;; my bad. Thanks for correcting me.

  • @joeygoku1

The message the game gives you at the end of the battle can be kinda misleading, so don't blame yourself. You can't know unless you check it specifically (or I tell you :P).

  • Nice one!

I'm tempted to make a BPLL for BoF 5 now.

  • I want to see you play BoF5 period.

  • @MoogleBoss xD been months (maybe a year) since I played BoF2. I got used to games where the monsters give a set ammount of exp and it's divided among party members xD

  • 19 levels with one battle. *Whistles lightly.* Not too shabby.

  • Yes I can show that I already have my Hard mode LLG Save, I'll make both crisis core and FF8 by the weekend :)

  • Sure thing.
