at eastfield community college in mesquite there is a no smoking ordenience. this is not a problem the problem is the lack of signage to let the student body know where it is okay to smoke. the lack of a shelter for the student body to take cover from the elements such as snow. in this video the police take their power to a new level. harassing an innocent victim. the person in question was not smoking. merely sitting out of the snow on their laptop when a female officer threatened to write a ticket for disorderly conduct. how is being peacefucl disorderly? how can a college campus allow the abuse of power by a police force it shows respect too. yet does not receive that respect back in turn. where does a member of the student body go to sit outside in the quite trying to study without having to worry about getting a disorderly conduct ticket? where can students go to have a cigarette if they so choose? do they have a place where they can stand out of the elements?
hello leaders of eastfield community college in mesquite texas. we represent your student body. we are your student body. the blatant abuse of power by your police force is no longer acceptable to us. with this latest action taken against your student body by these officers we have chosen to live in fear no longer. we have chosen to make our rally cry heard world wide by all students. in hopes that no human has to live in fear of law enforcement either. our request is simple and not without reason. please provide your student body with clearly marked signs as to where they may congregate in order to have a cigarette if desired. providing a simple shelter from the elements of mother nature, and a clearly marked area where your student body may congregate in outdoor area to sit, relax and use their laptops if so desired. this will help ease the abuse of power perpetrated by officers upon we your student body. your student body tries very hard to show respect to all law enforcement officers. it is when they show your students no respect and make threats such as this you should worry. if you do not worry about your students being threatened by your police force, then there is a problem.
one final question. what law did a member of your student body violate by sitting in a window area on their laptop?
if campus's really cared about clean air they wouldn't send people in cars spewing out toxic waste to harrass someone smoking a ciggarette. I would much rather be next to someone smoking than be exposed to car exhaust.
