I think Clara Ward should have been given a title, but Queen of Gospel wasn't it. Maybe a Duchess of Gospel or even the High Priestess of Gospel, heck I dunno, but she was an awesome singer...always loved her phrasing and diction.

Now this is what I'm talkin' 'bout. Thank you!

Makes me cry. So many of us need this and I hope more people realize. Its not just the words/lyrics but the feeling and the realness of it. The reality. And every day reality can hard. Trying to make it and simply trying to LIVE. I know this. I know too much. Thank you for posting these beautiful songs. Comforting and amazing. x Peace to you. ♥

@GearRocks, thanks for the tip. I just checked it out. That was something else to hear that old song in a cartoon!

my favorite part of this version is that bass pedal punching in at 0:02 to get things started, I used to listen to the first few seconds on my tape over and over. also the little walk down the pedals at 1:59. just little reasons to love gospel. She sings clear as a bell, yes she does let it ring out

Y'all do know that Clara wrote this song right? I love both Clara's and Mahalia's performance of this song. In any case, they are both singing praise and glory!

@urbaandiultra, actually, Rev. William Herbert Brewster wrote this song. Clara came along and did this version and the song really took off. Then, she claimed it as her own. That hurt Rev. Brewster's feelings, but he never sued or anything like that.
