Egerton House was built 200 years ago, originally for a local mill owner. Latterly a hotel, it had been in the doldrums for a while until new management took over in 2003 and began turning the place around. The restaurant here is called The Dining Room and has recently undergone a transformation, giving the venue a relaxed elegance. Egerton House prides itself on the welcoming atmosphere and with the extensive lounge area its a good place to come and spend the evening. A husband-and-wife team run the front-of-house and kitchen and the British menu changes every day. Scallops are a signature dish. Egerton House is not just a special occasions venue and caters to all tastes. The hotel has 29 rooms and can accommodate functions, weddings and conferences for up to 130 people
