1. First part driving to south. Leaving USAG Yongsan, Gate 10 onto Itaweon Blvd using Hwy 31 south and Hwy 92 east to get to Expressway 1.

  • We took a different route.... This don't look familiar...

  • Maybe you left by Gate 1 or 17 or some other gate. There are several others gates to the post to enter/exit. Depending upon your exit gate you might find a better route to Hwy 1 than this video. Safe driving always, and watch your six.

  • ahhh gate 10, remember it well, was 1978 caught the bus there every day...stayed at the medic barracks just inside gate 10...

  • In the meantime check out Google Maps, search on Seoul and you can see a lot Yongsan and the city area right now.

  • Good point...I'd just like to see the main road up the hill on South Post, the schools, Lombardo field...gate 19...mostly innocuous locations, I'd think...and maybe on Main Post the main parade grounds, the exterior of HQ, and the old movie theater. These were my main stomping grounds and it would be fun to match new video with all my old 35mm pictures.

But of course I may be asking too much!

    Many thanks,

    Scott

  • I will check with the "powers that be" and see what's allowed to video inside.

  • Thanks for the update. And please do let me know if you can get more footage inside Yongsan...esp. South Post.

    Keep it up,

    scott

  • Big changes in store for USAG Yongsan and other garrisons. Many troops and their families are moving to Camp Humphreys over the next few years. Yongsan will become a smaller post in numbers and size as "the Hump" gets bigger. Lots of stories in Stars & Stripes about the changes.

  • Ah, Gate 52! Good to see that again too.

In my day the commissary was inside Gate 10, up the hill, and on the left across from the middle and elementary school.

  • Excellent--I love seeing those exits out of South Post again.
