He studied everything and kept detailed logs about the plants people and lands he saw,he was first and foremost an explorer and not a "conquerer".As a Hawaiian myself,i grew up not caring that he was killed.After all he was the "first haole". But as i read about him and knew more about who he was, i feel bad that the one foreigner who was fair,was the one that was killed
Capt Cook was a good man from humble background not from the upper class like so many of his peers. A tragic mistake of misunderstanding led to his death.
