Delaware Valley Association of Rail Passengers DVARP ran a special charter train with Amtrak equipment to Reading PA, here passing through Bridgeport PA on the Conrail Harrisburg Line
The Nathan K5LA (introduced around 1978) is Amtrak's standard horn. CSX and NS use the K5LA and the K5H horns on many of their units, however, a good number of units that were inherited as a result of mergers till have horns from their predecessor railroads. The old Nathan "P" series and Leslie "S" series can still be heard on a number of ex-Conrail, Southern, and N&W units. Just google the Diesel Air Horns website and click on the Sound Library to hear some very good sound samples. - Peace
It's the standard K5LA (did I get that right).. the same one on all P42's. Heck CSX and NS order all engines with the same horns (although they don't all face foward like the amtrak, and some of the newer ones are hybrids to meet Federal guidelines so the horns aren't so loud).
