I had my camera filming at just the right time to witness a meteor hitting just a few miles away from my house! It's unbelievable!
Well, to tell the truth, this is all computer animation and special effects. I just filmed a shot of my street, then used ParticleIllusion 3 to create the meteor and explosion effects. I then imported this into Sony Vegas, and added camera shake, lens flare, brightness, color balance, and sound effects (over 10 used). Then I exported the final project and that is what you see here. All together, it took about an hour to make, from beginning filming to final edit. I might make a video in the near future showing all the steps I did to make it, and how you can make your own meteor collision occur right in your backyard!

  • and the speed of a meteor is very fast it wouldnt take that long for it to hit the ground and when it does hit the ground it shreds through the grass is if ur digging a long wide hole

  • I know it looks pretty fake, and the physics and speed and stuff aren't realistic. I wasn't trying to make a scientifically accurate representation of a meteor hitting, just have some fun with special effects.

  • Good Effort Dude...

  • Sci-Fi original quality

  • I thought it was okay. So what if it isn't realistic? It looks cool.

  • Another let down. This comment should get more likes than the video. =l

  • wtf?

  • holy shit!

  • Wow, this is probably real.

  • If you want it to look miles away you need to place the objects in the distance in your 3D program, or as the camera was still, you need to carefully set up the noise size for the effects, the fire looked really close. Also meteor should go faster, the tail should reamin but be smoke. Less light glare/lens effect. Meteors woudl only glow white hot at the front, plus smoke doesnt glow white, red maybe.

  • @martinzwanenburg it was fake a meteor msut go very faster than that
