(The recording was rather low framerate... The app has nice smooth transitions.)
After a few hours work last night, the flashcard app was up and running. It's purpose is to drill sightwords. If the child reads the word correctly, tap the top of the screen and they get a heart sticker. If they get it wrong or take too long, tell them the word and tap the bottom and they get a green splat sticker. The paper backgrounds change randomly with each word to keep it visually interesting and the randomly placed stickers act as a non-threatening score.
More features will come, but this WAS only day one. Sounds, word list editing, etc.
This was created using Livecode, a multi-platform development environment that provides such easy speedy development that I use it for all my personal projects - Despite being a more "hard core" programmer as a day job. I'd use LC for my day job if I could... Maybe one day.
(Video was taken on a Windows machine running the exact same code.)
