After many hours of hard work, four empty nesters created a larger than life pencil to represent the Writing Studies Department in the University of Minnesota's homecoming parade. As Senior Lecturer and Assistant Director of Graduate Studies, Joe Moses' passion for teaching and writing rubbed off on his wife, Janet, and their best friends Kathie Jacobson and Paul Kopatz, thus making a pencil on wheels the brightest float on University Avenue. Their creativity, commitment, and enthusiastic friendship shines through in preparation and delivery of this one of a kind pencil.
