  • The Dole Company is descended from businesses owned by American whites who overthrew the sovereign government of Hawaii. Prior to 1898, Hawaii was a sovereign nation recognized by governments in Europe and elsewhere. Then the U.S. government imposed a tariff on imported sugar, and in order to avoid the sugar tariff, the Dole family (and others) conspired to have the U.S. Marines overthrow the government of Hawaii's queen. The U.S. has invaded and overthrown numerous governments since then.

  • I minored in Geography online. I wonder sometimes what I missed by not taking on campus classes. Now I know.

  • "Joe Kerski the Geography Guy on a cable channel 145 next Monday at 9/8 Central Time." Just think of what a TV show like this could do for geography.

  • As always very instructive....makes geography come alive!
