Broadcast during the final Dave Lee Travis Show -
News of the refusal of the Isle of Man to implement the Marine etc., Broadcasting Offences Act. This was the Act by which the government sought to ban broadcasts by 'pirate' radio stations, mostly operating from ships outside the UK's territorial waters. These had flourished since 28 March 1964, when Radio Caroline went on the air and initiated a spate of such ventures, proving the public appetite for music-based commercial radio.

I was 9yrs old when i first heard Radio Caroline North from the Isle of Mann for the first time . I still listen to my friend Caroline on Sky 0199 , i hope the campaign to get a broadcast licence will be successful " fair is fair " . I want to thank Pat Edison for paying tribute to my late brother ( see Tribute to George Hutchinson on Radio Caroline on You tube ) MrBelfastchild

I was a big fan of pirate radio in the late 60's and the 70's and Caroline was my absolute favorourite. I was a member of the Johnny Walker fan club and still have the badge! I cried the day Caroline stopped broadcasting. Its ok now but nothing as exciting as it used to be with all those gorgeous pirate dj's and those fantastic jingles!!! I hated the BBC for taking our hero's away from us and have never forgiven them!!!

During the mornings and evenings in the winter months we could receive Caroline North down in Southampton. It was the best of all the offshore stations. I remember how The Frederica traveled along the South Coast to her new home off the IOM. Tom Lodge and his theme tune Rinky Dink, oh what great memories. Thanks so much for posting this on YouTube

Radio Caroline South's ship Mi Amigo sank in 1980. The North ship, Federica, was towed away in 1968 as far as I recall.
