MTV Spokesman Defends Jersey Shore (And Guidos) - Comedy.com

MTV's new hit show Jersey Shore has been getting a ton of heat from critics (and losing advertisers) for negative portrayals of Italian-Americans, the use of the word guido and glorifying violence against women. Comedy.com reached out to MTV to give them the opportunity to answer their critics. They sent us this.

I don' t know why in the US you always talk about "Guidos"...I' m Italian, live in Italy and in all my life till now I' ve met only 2 guys whose name is "Guido"! Tell me in 2010, in Italy, who calls his son Guido?!?

As reguards the guys of Jersey Shore, the only Italian thing that they have is their origin. In Italy they just would be seen as "cazzoni Americani", which means "American dicks"!!

So, keep on using stereotypes about us ;-)

I love how people are like "THIS ACCENT IS SO FAKE" like they just solved the world's hardest mystery. No shit it's fake. The comedian's name is Adam Ray. He's a Jewish guy in his early 30's and has a Youtube channel (which is absolutely hilarious) called "AdamRay24".

it's always the boisterous crowd that gets the attention and not the cultured, classy, and reserved people that make up the majority of the Italians here in the states (I'm sure in Italy as well but I've never been). there's always a small segment that gives everyone else in the group a bad name. I know hundreds of Italian-Americans and not a single one looks like a "guido" or is a mobster. the actor in this video was poking fun at that small (and loud) stereotype. I laughed my ass off.
