Dave Thomas - The Welsh in Australia

Dave Thomas was born in Wales in 1950. He studied art in English and Welsh colleges during the 1970's. In the early 1980's he was appointed Head of Art Department of the International School of Milan, Italy.

After travelling the world Dave found his "paradise" in the southern highlands of NSW and has since been a much sought after portrait artist. Dave has been a finalist in the Archibald Prize and twice finalist in the Doug Moran National Prize.

For the past twelve years Dave has focused on his other great love, sport. He has worked with numerous Australian and international sporting organizations as well as focussing on his portrait work.

Dave's work can be found in many AFL and NRL clubs, Cricket NSW, QLD Cricket, the QRL, the ACT Brumbies, Huntingdale Golf Club, Parliament House as well as the boardrooms of many companies and the homes of private collectors.
