@randomikey5678 A common false dichotomy made by war-hawks is "You can either spend limitlessly on the military OR disband it completely". If I somehow had a free hand to change things, I would cut the budgets of the army, airforce and marines by three-quarters and the navy by half, then increase the size of the National Guard. Then put an amendment in the constitution that forbids offensive military actions without the approval of the U.N. security council. We'd still be safe, but less hated.

good for you man, im a former israeli soldier and i can tell you this- you are VERY lucky to be able to serve a country like the US, and even if the pay gets cut and things are rough, military service will make you into a man that none of these youtube pussies can ever hope to be.

the US military is a force that affects all nations and helps keep the US on the top of the food chain wether you like it or not, and even now when there's a recession over there, and some kids occupy wall street, you're living better then half the world can ever hope for, and alot of that is because of your military.

lets keep it simple, the military is a way of keeping US interests safe across the globe, cut it down and the US will fall, plain and simple, be it economically or politically, you are naive to think any country can support the kind of life YOU live and take for granted without alot of sacrifice.

just because you are too ignorant to know that simply having an aircraft carrier in the red sea can prevent thousands of deaths doesnt mean it isnt true.

@IDFArmor Let me guess, you think that the Russian Federation or Iran or whoever the 'scary nation of the week' is on Fox News is going to launch a straight up invasion of the United States if the defense budget gets cut, right? Warhawks always have vague and ominous predictions of the future, but they are rarely willing to articulate a situation where the massively oversized and over-equipped armed forces might actually be needed. Can you even think of one, aside from space aliens attacking?
