The healthy families fair was an event established to increase the health & well being of the community members by offering health services and screenings as well as providing information on local community agency & resources.

The health fair offered opportunities for those in attendance to watch food demonstrations on how to make healthy food options such as smoothies, ground turkey nachos with salsa and buffalo sliders.

Exercise demonstrations were also offered which included yoga as well as traditional dancing.

American Indian Health & Family Services offered information on programs at the agency including: Behavioral Health, Women's Circle, and Wellbriety, Children's Health insurance along with assistance program enrollments, the Parenting Program, the Youth Program (dream seekers), Healthy Start, IPC (Improving Patient Care), the Diabetes Program sponsored a nutrition table along with foot checks and massages and the clinic offered flu shots and health screenings.

Community agencies that participated in this event included Midwest health plan which offers medicare/medicaid coverage, the Detroit Agency On Aging, First Step which promotes the prevention of domestic violence, Michigan Commission For The Blind which offered vision screenings, Bone Marrow Wish which signed participants up on a donor registry and Planned Parenthood
