  • This features Abbey Lincoln and her then husband Max Roach in the turbulent 60's. They and Oscar Brown Jr. had collaberated and were producing some of the most revolutionary jazz. They were militant and paid dearly. Abbey and Max were living in exile in Europe. We Insist, The Freedom Now Suite is an album of genius.

  • the best drummer to have ever drawn breath.

  • @dexon93 he's undoubtedly in the discussion, but if you don't think Jo Jones (Basie) , Kloop-mop and even Chick Webb are right there as well, you are sadly mistaken. Roach himself didn't put himself above these three, so if he didn't, no way you can.

  • Amazing! Such a revolutionary statement at the time it was recorded.RIP Abbey Lincoln and Max Roach. Thank you for your masterful work!

  • @dexon93 Yes indeed!!!

  • Truly amazing musical art called jazz, just some more art created in America. Africans in America, that will never change no matter what you think.

  • the baddest~

  • thank you so much for posting this! It is beautiful. Is this off the Freedom Album? This exact version? I have heard others.. But this one you posted is my mind is the best! Where can I get this one?

  • I knew that Max was on point with his statement when first heard Freedom Suite. Telling the truth in artistic expression has come along way and still got along way to go.

  • This music brings me alive.
