  • Manic, have you ever gotten blades that have a kind of oil sticking them together? what is this for and should i rinse it off? also, do blades need to be disinfected? (i never have, but i just thought of this!)

  • @eyepatchinc I have never heard of blades sticking together like that. What brand are they? No, new blades should not need to be disinfected.

  • Any resources for recycling DE blades? One of the reasons I switched to a safety razor is to reduce the amount of waste.

  • elusivespoon- How about disposing the blades into a small metal container then taking the whole thing to be recycled when you're ready?

  • Hey, another great video from you! I've watched your complete collection and it made my shaving a more pleasant and fulfilling ritual!

One question though, how many shaves (on average) before you replace the blade?

  • flipu2k- It sort of depends on the person's beard and the brand of blade, but on average blades last me about a week.

  • i usually just wait till Halloween and put my razors inside apples and candy bars, i like to get creative with it and see what new candy i can conceal them in.

  • When I was a kid (60's) the medicine cabinet at my father's house had a slot in it for used razor blades, you'd slip it in the slot and it was fall to the bottom of the wall, there are probably thousands in there. I think these were common.

  • I got a money tin, the kind that is basically an unused soup can with a slot in the top and can only be opened with a can opener. It should hold many years of blades and, if I ever do fill it, I can chuck it in the steel recycling bin.

  • Use #101 for an Altoids tin!

  • You should try the Feather Tin Razor Blade Safe. You can get it off of the website Royalshave. Its very cheap and holds ALOT of blades!

  • My grandpa had a mirror cabinet built in the wall. If you open the mirror you will see in the bottom corner a hole. I was told growing up that that was where they put the used razors. They would fall inside the wall. I guess it would take more than a life time to fill that up! HA HA HA

  • I dig a small hole in my backyard and just pour them in there and bury it.

  • i wus put duct tape on the sharp parts and put them in a bowl/cup

  • @mantic59 Manic, they are Wilkinson blades from Wal Mart. To separate them, you have to take the stack of blades between your thumb and pointer finger and slide them apart. You can feel an oily substance on them and it even has a kinda oily . yet slight. oder to them. I bought them new of course :)
