I looked up the word underrated in the dictionary and right beside it was a portrait of Kevin Eubanks.

The first time I saw Kevin play solo, was on the Tonight Show. I don't even remember the year, but it must have been at least 15 or more years ago. My mouth just fell open, as note after mellifluous note began to fall upon my ears. It went far beyond any experience I'd ever had before, listening to a guitarist. Kevin's genius is that his music reaches down deep, penetrating the soul; reaching a place untouched, somewhere unexpected, visceral and pure. Thank you Kevin. Thank you.

You could practice your entire life and attain the same degree of technical proficiency as Kevin Eubanks, but still not be able to do this. The genius here isn't just in the technical execution. It's in the spontaneous creation.
