Do you have a difficult time making choices, or do you find it easy? Are you indecisive, or impulsive? Do you try to gather up all the pertinent information, or do you simply trust your gut instinct?

No matter how difficult or easy it might be, your day is full of choices that need to be made. Some are inconsequential, while others will have repercussions throughout the rest of your life.

One of the key, pivotal decisions that faces every believer is choosing a pastor and church--who will I trust to faithfully and accurately preach Gods truth each week? Considering the impact it will make on your spiritual growth, its one of the most important decisions youll ever make.

So what are the biblical criteria when it comes to making such an important decision? What characteristics should we look for in a pastor, and which ones should we avoid?

John MacArthur has the opportunity to speak at many conferences throughout the year and recently he had a chance to answer these very questions for a few thousand college students and young adults at the Resolved Conference in Palm Springs, CA.

Lets watch together as he describes in detail what to look for in a Sanctifying Shepherd.

  • Being a Pastor does not take away from the headship of Christ Hebrews 13:17 (New King James Version)

17 Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.

  • Pfsif, the whole organic church movement is bogus! It's a liberal, postmodernist distortion of the New Testament church.

Those who say there isn't any biblical reference to the office of pastor (including that he's the leader and should be paid) have obviously not read I and II Timothy. Not to mention Ephesians.

But liberal postmodernists don't like to read anyway.

  • How about this, there is NOTHING in the Bible that say's the Pastor is the preacher, man in charge, only speaker, paid, the most important person in the assembly. The evolution of the pastors position is purley demonic and removes Christ as the head in the assembly. Look for a few people with NO RELIGOUS TITLES and you've found it.

  • Can we get the second part on you tube. I have not had any look trying to listen to it on the link that you refer us to.

    Thanks

  • I attend Coral Park Ministries in Miami, Fl. And lately God is doing a great work in our lives thanks to the ministers from the Senior pastor to the youth pastor. I feel blessed to be part of this church specially having a great minister like the English minister whom God is using so that we may be able to create ministries as young adults and as Christians and hardly anywhere in Miami can you find a church like this one with such men of God.

  • Next year, he will be in Palm Springs again in summer 2010.

  • I live in Palm Springs and i had no idea he would even be here... I attend Calvary Chapel - The Bridge... Would of loved to meet John Macarthur
