Best song on Call of the West maybe. I starting to think Dark Continent is a stronger album though. All of their releases are pretty interesting and fun. That is, the Ridgeway releases with the band.

Yep, the Carver reference is bang on the money my friend

A shame that egos get in the way. The lyrics show that these guys were "knowing" enough to avoid stupid crap. But failed.

What a great find - this vid is a treasure!

Johnny Cash meets Tuxedomoon to cover some Gun Club and Wilco. Unique Sci-Fi Americana. Sounds incredibly fresh after all these years. It´s a pity they recorded only a few records. Worth being rediscovered!.

I don't know who Carver is, I just know, for myself, that this song has gos depth.

My favorite WoV song!

This is a sweet and beautiful and sad song. It really shows their range as writers, and that they are not just a novelty act. It has kind of a Raymond Carver-like prosaic-ness to it that makes you want to cry. One of my very favorites.

i must have listened to this song at least 500 times in my life..I would listen to the album for days on end inmy walkman as I went to highschool

My entire LP collection was built up that same way: stay up late next to the tape recorder, write down what I liked, and ride my bike to the record store that weekend to order all the cool stuff I had discovered that week. Every week there were 2 or 3 great new bands. Echo, Smiths, Cult, WOV, Simple Minds, Ultravox, etc. It was incredible.
