Here is the old Conisbrough Viaduct, which has been disused for several years now, as has the railway line which used to run in the area and cross this viaduct.
This stretch of the railway lines route has also been dismantled, but parts of the route of the disused line can still be found in the locality.
Admittedly it is not on a par with the magnificent Ribblehead Viaduct, but it is still worth a visit if you are in the area.
It is not far from Conisbrough, Cadeby, Sprotbrough, Mexborough, Warmsworth, Goldthorpe and Bentley, in the Barnsley and Doncaster areas of Soth Yorkshire.
It stands alongside and spans the River Don, where you can enjoy a pleasant walk or cycle along the riverbank, which forms part of the Sustrans Trans Pennine Trail (Route 62) cycle and footpath, and is also near to the Don Gorge Nature Trail and Sprotbrough Flash, where you can sit in the bird hides by the lake and see lots of species of birds, including Heron and Kingfisher.
There are also several acres of adjoining woodland to explore.
