In a world of such uncertainty, when there is so little left to cling onto, how refreshing then to stumble across this and discover that Kevin Guy is still as big a tosspot as he was at school all those years ago.

Also the drumming in Drums Across the River" is Hollywood's idea of "indian drumming".
A four beat without a stress on the first is more usual. The letting go of the western idea of music is good advice.

The Spirit of the Drum resides in the centre of the drum, it is better to play the drum around the outside. I know it is easier to play a "remo" made buffalo drum in all weathers, but the sound of a well heated skin drum is sacred, it is honour, respect and intention. Even buying a drum kit and making one yourself will bond you to it as "your drum" and it to you as drummer.

Remo are not Traditional Drums nor made by Traditional Hands, they may well sound good but are not Indigenous in their crafting and therefore not Shamanic but mass produced.
The shamans drum is always made as a Unique Item, personally for the individual. They also have full animal hides such as Moose, Elk or Buffallo. Try the work of Yolanda Martinez, that lady can really make a drum.
