@alextheawsome Not really. Many songs were overly political, and some did talk about the ghetto. Like Love Child by the Supremes and In the Ghetto by Elvis. And the list goes on. I guess you can't please everyone. Because if a upbeat song like you described was released everyone will hate it, and say how music then was better because it talk about miserable things.

A simpler band from a simpler time, that's what made them great. Back then music always seemed happy, upbeat, and told you how to live life and fix your problems, rather then talking about growing up in the ghetto and how miserable you are.
