My partner and I built this autonomous robot named Poseidon to put out a fire for a competition. The fire was a candle, and could be in any of four rooms. There were penalties for touching walls, so we have distance sensors mounted on both sides and the front. There are line sensors mounted on the bottom to detect room entries, a flame detector to sense if the candle is in a room, and a heat sensor with a fresnel lens to sweep the room and target the flame. We used water drawn by an aerosol can commonly used for applying your own provided paint to put out the flame.

This video demonstrates our robot starting at home position, checking each of the 4 rooms for a fire, and returning to home position.
