  • This bill is the only way that we can compete on a global level. All other industrial nations place a high level on educating the workforce and their citizens by subsidizing higher education. It is simply a no-brainer. A highly educated and well trained workforce will have better jobs, pay higher taxes, will not be a burden on society, compete with other countries. When I went to college, I was able to pay off my student debt in 3 years. I would like the same for future generations.

  • Did I party? Hell yeah! Did I work two jobs, serve as president of an organization and earn four majors with high honors? Yeah I did that too. Maybe you shouldn't have decided to become a PR major or study history and you'd be more useful to society and would actually have gotten a job to PAY WHAT YOU OWE!

  • I"ll tell you, you won't. In high school my econ teacher told me "There's no such thing as a free lunch." Somebody always has to pay - why should someone else have to pay for you to go to college? Especially since you wasted it because you don't have a good paying job...I went to college, worked my ass off, and had a job lined up before I graduated. So did at least thirty of my friends.

  • 0:41 "By...forgiving student loans, we can create more purchasing power with Americans because they'll have more money to responsibly spend." Anyone else see the problem here? Follow the logic train here: You don't have enough money to go to college, so you borrow it from me. Now you can't pay me back. Hmm, I think I'll forgive your earlier debt so you have more money to spend elsewhere. How does this make sense? If you didn't spend it "responsibly" the first time, how will you this time?

  • Rep Clarke: Your are the only real representative in the House right now. I urge you to run for senate!

    Keep fighting!

  • Lol is he saying that THE CONSUMER has to tighten our 'collective' belt? AND be forgiven outstanding debt? Wow this guy is living in cloud-coo-coo-land. How is that going to stimulate jobs exactly? Last time I checked... consumers WERE the National GDP. Take that away... you'll LOSE jobs. Who voted this turkey in?
