Nice setup, how do u like working for DPS PD? What do u guys carry down there? I hear DPD switched to Smith's.....

Well DPS Pd keep us hopping just like DPD. DPD just switched to S&W MP 40. we were carrying S&W model410 & tactical 4006. The new campus police officers are carrying our old S&W and now patrol switched back to glock 22 . They are building us a new base hopefully done by November. They are suppose to hire more bodies I hope so because we need it badly. :)

Wow, so they have some guys carrying Glock 22's and others carrying Smiths? I thought in a large scale department like that they would probably have everyone carrying the same thing. Do they let you guys carry whatever you feel like off-duty? I was talking to some guys that worked DPD a few years ago and I thought they had said they could only carry their issued service weapon off-duty. At the time that was a Glock 22, that's a lot of bulk to be packing on a daily basis off duty in the D! lol

We can carry just about anything we want off duty as long as we let the Dept. know what we are carrying. Right now the dept. is in a cash crunch so hence thats why the two different gun s but the same ammo
