Celebrated architect Daniel Libeskind discusses his views of architecture as a spiritual and aesthetic experience, citing the examples of two sites he designed: the rebuilding of New York City's World Trade Center, and San Francisco's Contemporary Jewish Museum.
-----
When we build things - especially beautiful things - we do so with the expectation and the wish that they will last, and through them, we will last.
Daniel Libeskind explores this idea of architecture-as-hope and elaborates on his creative process and the opening of his most recent project, San Francisco's new Contemporary Jewish Museum - The Commonwealth Club of California
Daniel Libeskind is an American Jewish architect of Berlin's Jewish Museum and San Francisco's Contemporary Jewish Museum. Libeskind made waves when, in 2003, he won the competition to rebuild the World Trade Center.
Daniel Libeskind's work is very inspirational and philosophical in a way. I am glad that he is commissioned for the 9/11 reconstruction

oh "of course as a master planner of NY" Mr. Libeskind, bc you've done so much architecture in NY, you are clearly justified as a master planner for it *rolls eyes*

I personally cannot comprehend those who cannot appreciate the integrity of Someone like Daniel Libeskind's work. He represents the meaningful identity in architecture, and the rigorous process he uses to reach his designs is what lacks in so many other buildings today.
You don't have to like the aesthetic outcome of his work- but to critisise the skills and intelligence of this man is just plain ignorant.

Daniel Libeskind never designed anything at ground zero, his first plan was an incompetent jungle of different buildings and other arhitects helped out him to make this plan out of the fantasy world.
