This 2 stamper is in as found condition except for the electric motor that I had to replace. This was used in a gravel gold mine in Camino Cal. which is part of the Placerville mining district. The 1/2 horsepower electric motor runs a "V' belt to the front of an old automotive transmission input, then the output of the transmission has a chain sprocket that powers the chain to the main drive wheel of the stamp mill to work very easily. The base of this is 1.5" solid steel that sits on the ground. The gravel was fed to the battery boxes via 2 small quater round feeder slides (not pictured) screens were also attached to the front of the battery boxes. This unit had sat for over 50 years until I rescued it, was in a small building outside one of the tunnels with track/rail that went from inside the tunnel to the builing and then out the back to the tailings dump. If this thing could only talk the stories it might tell ! Thanks for looking !! This could be for sale or trade to the right offer or trade. What do you have to trade ?

  • Thanks for your question, to fill the machine they had 2 half rounded feed chute type slides contoured to fit the top of the batter box cylinders. The material size was primarily gravel as this gold mining claim was a gavel type material ore, although any material could be crushed in a jaw crusher to break the ore to 1 " or less in size, you may see two examples of jaw crushers that will work for this process in my other videos if you like. Good luck on you project !

  • well i mill works :D i spent 75 bucks and 5 weeks of my time building a 4 stamp battery. my system is set up to act as my essay crusher at my small mill site near smithers BC. we load ore into a chute, ore is separated by size with water and a grate, the smaller ores go through a large two stamp battery, while the larger ore is crushed by hand as i don t have a jaw crusher (or the money to buy one). we use a shaker table to get silver and gold from our ores. last summer we made $ 500 in gold :D

  • i am building one of these in my metal works class at school, do you have any tips on how to fill the machine and the size of material it can handle?

  • @wardbros

this machine was used to stamp quartz ores to extract the gold that was trapped in it the hammers are lifted and dropped and the vibrations move the crushed ore out the bottom

  • Nice mill looks like it would work pretty well and looks to be somewhat portable. Phil

  • What is (was) it used for?
