This is a tutorial on how to remove the opaque backcoat from Fuji FP100C negatives. Unlike Polaroid's peel apart negatives, the opaque protection is not impregnated into the backcoat. It is soluble in bleach. Caution is recommended in handling bleach or the toilet bowl cleaner used in this video. Eye protection and gloves are highly recommended as well as strong ventilation.

  • Many thanks for sharing. How do you protect negatives from dust and wind when you're shooting?

  • @panchoskywalker I generally have my large 4x5 camera case nearby and will start by taping the negatives around the edges. The negative is close to dry after peeling so is not subject to too much sticking to it. With 4x5, I am rarely shooting more than half a dozen at each site, so by the time I pack up, they are dry and can be put into a box.
