Sharing my experiences with my children's schools. For parents who have deaf/hard of hearing children, it's important to visit both schools and follow your child's lead.
How much I do wish I could pick out the pros of both settings to create an ideal school too. Every Deaf/HH child is unique. Follow mother's instinct. My instinct is for my 2nd Deaf child to be fully mainstreamed with an interpreter. She is neither an introvert nor an extrovert. She's somewhere in the middle and is an independent learner and a voracious reader. My oldest girl, Deaf too, would thrive if at a Deaf school. I'm working on getting her placed over there next year.
