Frank Herzog, voice of the Redskins, retired this week after forty years of broadcasting. He did it his way.

  • Good night Irene! Touchdown, Washington Redskins!

  • TOUCHDOWN WASHINGTON REDSKINS!!

  • WJLA's Frank Herzog got to make his name as the voice of the Redskins' glory years; and is every bit a legend as the other two main Washington sportscasters of that era (WRC's George Michael/WUSA's Glenn Brenner).

Thinking of it now, it's kind of sad Frank's the lone survivor of that group.

  • Gotta miss the good old days. We will miss Frank. Thanks for posting John. Try to post more regularly. Alot of changes at Redskins park, I look forward to your input.

  • Isn't that Ken Beatrice doing the opening announcing?

  • I'll definitely miss his play by plays. His "He's gone! He's gone! Touchdown Washington Redkins!!" is still a quintessential NFL films moment!

  • Coulda used more Frank? We all could use more Frank now... Man, I miss that guy...

  • you know, i refinished herzogs kitchen cabinets. he's a big dude, and a super nice guy.

  • Frank Herzog's wife is a teacher at my school.

  • Riggo!
