"Dancing In The Dark" - vocals by the incomparable Bea Wain. The camera stays mostly on dancers Gower and Jeanne unfortunately. Recorded in 1939. Cheers to Vitaphone & Ternur Klassick Mooveez.
This is one of the only pieces of film showing the teenage Gower Champion when he and his partner Jeanne were renowned club dancers, years before he teamed with Marge.
@FriendlyGrizzly check (alone Together)by Artie Shaw and you'll see the how tight his bands were, very beautiful thing to see w/BR on drums is amazing..
@hudent Artie Shaw was probably the finest musician of his era. I will grant that he was quite egotistical and emotional, but his playing, the orchestras he assembled, the songs he recorded... all amazing. I am 62. I discovered Artie Shaw on an LP called Moonglow. A neighbor got it when they bought a compinent "hi fi" in 1955 or so. I've been a fan since.
@sbgrant thank you, and by the way do like Artie Shaw? this individual was so crazy yet so smart and I love all his music,if you do check Mark Steyn online,he did a two part interview with Artie a before he died and I think this guy was one of the kind..amazing individual to my book..My favorite tune that he hated to play(begin the Beguine) there you go!! take care, adios
@hudent no apology needed, i thought your language was perfectly justified... there are so few clips out there of Bea and this could have been the best if not for the sodding dancers!
Bea Wain was really a innovator; outstanding, terrific and fantastic. I agree that this recording should have featured more Bea and less dancers. she is amazing!
