  • The shifter:

P(Park)- the front wheels are parked, but always use the parking brake on hills

    R (Reverse)- engages reverse

N (Neutral)- car rolls, now power is given to the front wheels

D (Drive)- front wheels drive forward, and gear shifts are at low RPM.

Steptronic/Tiptronic Mode (Right of D), manual shifting, don't need brake to shift.

S (Sport)- Agressive shifts at higher RPM, engine brakes car when you step off the gas! Recommended, to feel the fun of the car!

  • Four things you need to keep in mind with a Volkswagen:

    1) The ignition sometimes acts weird in cold weather, causing the car to crank then sputter out.

    2) The brake wear is tremendous on this car! At around 32,500 miles, expect new brake pads to be put on, or the dummy light.

    3) The weight sensor seating mat can be malfunctioning, causing the airbag malfunction light to illuminate (it was replaced under warranty). This is the passenger seat!

    4) Front wheel drive doesn't do well in snow!

  • It's a nice car! Some of the things I like about it are that it gets great mileage, the interior has great quality, it offers a decent amount of bang for the buck, and everything is within easy to reach spots. Some things I don't like are that the back seat is small, it requires a heavy amount of acceleration to pass someone (keep in mind it only has 170HP), and it could use a bit more power or the DSG.

All in all, it is a nice little package at a decent price!

  • Nice car.

  • @dryicecool

I bought mine back last summer don't remember exactly when, and i payed around $12000.

  • nice car but i would have went with the Audi A4... first i think jetta is a chick car, no offense. its quick, and sturdy but then again its a front wheel drive care not a big fan.. but A4 is allwheel and i live in NY so snow, its better.. overal if was to get a vw it would have been a passatt
